A veneer is a layer of tooth-colored filling material made of composite or a shield of porcelain that is bonded to the tooth. A veneer is used to beautify the appearance of a tooth.

What is a facing?
When can you have a veneer placed?
How long does a facing last?
A veneer lasts about eight to 10 years, but this also depends a lot on how you handle it and whether it is a composite veneer or a porcelain veneer. Teeth grinding or biting on something hard can damage veneers. A damaged facing can always be repaired or replaced. This treatment does not damage the tooth itself.
How is a veneer applied?
About half a millimeter of your tooth enamel is removed to prepare your teeth for the veneer. An impression or mold of your teeth is then taken to send to the laboratory so that the veneers can be prepared. This takes about two weeks. During placement, your teeth are first cleaned and then roughened so that the veneer will stay in place. The veneer is bonded to the tooth with a special type of cement. Ultraviolet light is used to ensure that the cement hardens faster.
Does a facing need extra maintenance?
No. Of course, you should continue to brush your teeth properly. To do so, use a soft toothbrush and dental floss to clean well between teeth as well.
With a facing, can you eat anything?
You can just keep eating everything. However, you should avoid hard things, such as pickles. Nail biting or chewing on a pen can also cause a facing to become damaged.
What does a facing cost?
The cost of veneers varies; it depends on the material. For current costs, please refer to our rates page. Depending on your insurance, your treatment will be (partially) reimbursed.
