Do you have a cavity in your tooth?

Do you think you have a cavity in a tooth? You can recognize a cavity by seeing a brown discoloration or by having a toothache. If you wait too long, a hole can get deeper and deeper and eventually reach the dental nerve. This can cause great pain and result in root canal treatment. This, of course, is not what you want. A cavity in your tooth can often be easily prevented by getting regular checkups at Nova Dentists. If you suspect you have a cavity, contact us via the contact page and easily schedule an appointment.

How does a cavity form in your tooth?

Because we eat and drink throughout the day, plaque forms on our teeth. If your teeth are not cleaned regularly and properly, plaque can continue to build up. The bacteria contained in plaque secrete acids that slowly but surely erode the enamel of your tooth. Eventually, this can lead to a cavity in your teeth.

How is a cavity in a tooth filled?

At our dental office, we regularly see people with cavities in a tooth or molar. To place a filling, we make a separate dental appointment with you so that we can take our time for this. The dentist will need to drill before placing a filling. This may be painful for a while; you can get an anesthetic for that. Drilling is necessary to remove all bacteria and affected pieces of tooth. Then a filling is placed of white composite, similar in color to the rest of your teeth. The team at Nova Dentists will make sure your teeth look like new again!
